Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR)

Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR)

Many of the dogs that come to Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR)
have been family pets that have been abandoned on the street or
surrendered to either AFCD (government) kennels or directly to us.
Their only crime is that they are old or sick, or their owners have
simply lost interest. Many are young puppies that are the result of
irresponsible owners or are born to abandoned or stray dogs.
HKDR makes regular visits to AFCD government kennels to select
the lucky few who stand the best chance of being re-homed. The
rest are killed after just 4 days. Up to 20,000 dogs and puppies
are destroyed every year in Hong Kong.

To be able to continue saving as many dogs and puppies
as possible, we need your help.

HKDR is funded solely by donations and we receive no help from
the government or any other sources. All of the dogs and puppies
that HKDR take in for re-homing are health checked, vaccinated
and de-sexed, and those who need veterinary treatment are given
the best available. Dogs with behaviour problems are rehabilitated.
Some dogs wait a long time before finding a new home, and some
will never be chosen. We need money to feed and care for these
long-termers* including flea/tick prevention (Frontline®),
heartworm prevention (Heartgard®) and vaccinations.
